Vickie who lives in Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire and is a former member of the British Snowboard Cross Team. She is the leading female sled dog racer in the UK, holding multiple top 4 world rankings. She competes sprint in 4 dog rig/sled, 2 dog scooter and 1 dog bike. She is the only British racer to hold a sprint World Cup standing on the sled. She aims to become World Champion.
Vickie first fell in love with sled dogs when working in Canada and Alaska and upon returning to the UK, it wasn’t long until McKinley her first husky of her own entered her life. Vickie now has a team of 29 dogs, who help her run her husky ride business. She has a mixed kennel of Siberian Huskies, Alaskan Huskies, Eurohounds and Greysters and a pet Collie!
As yet Vickie has only scratched the surface of what she could achieve, but she has competed at World and European Championships, with career highlights of being the British Champion for 2 years in a row in 3 classes, and winning Silver and Bronze in the world Championships.
Vickie’s passion and love for her dogs is evident, she inspires her dogs to greatness. Never a bad or harsh word, these dogs run because they love what they do and they trust and believe in the human guiding them. Her appeal stretches beyond sled dog sports and she has done more than any other UK musher to put sleddog sports on the map. Vickie is committed to encouraging and inspiring others and runs training camps, as well as offering training scholarships to young mushers to learn all about dog care and how to run dogs.
