Dashka is the alpha female, or as we prefer to say- mum of the pack. She will do everything she can to protect her family and wants the responsibility of being in charge. She is a very unusual dog with the distinctive look of a wolf and is in fact a breed of dog called a Tamaskan.
She is a brilliantly, clever but stubborn girl the true requirement of any good lead sled dog. She can run in any position and is our chief puppy trainer. Her cool, calm energy in all situations gives all new runners the confidence to enjoy their work. She makes this pack what it is.
Mckinnley is the typical black and white husky you see in the movies, that’s where anything typical about this dog ends though. Kinners is a small, lean and athletic dog, akin to the original huskies from Siberia. He runs off lead and will happily fetch sticks, two things huskies aren’t supposed to do.
He runs in team position and is reliable and consistent in harness. Kinners loves people, especially children and is always a hit wherever he goes. Kinners is a hard worker, but doesn't like to go too fast. He will run his heart out for you and rarely lets you down, an awesome dog. He has zeros bloodlines, which is his running heritage. Kinners is very easy going out of harness and wants the easy life so he just lets the females get on with it......sensible male.
Willow is that something special she is the 'one in a million dog.' She is from show lines so isn't built like a lean race dog, instead she is a fluffy movie style husky who really shouldn't be as fast as she is. Willow is our top siberian race dog and is a member of Team GB, she loves racing and has the perfect head for it. She is the Sled Dog Association of Scotland Scooter Class Champion and the British Sleddog Sports Federation bikejor purebred champion, she will be flying to Canada at the end of the year to represent her country in the World Dryland Championships.
If you get to run Willow, it means Vickie thinks you can handle our fiesty red head. She understands the difference between customer rides and racing and may not give her all with a rookie at the helm, but when she goes this girl has power and speed......hold on tight!!
This aptly named dog is Dashkas' daughter. She needs to be kept busy or she will find other ways to entertain herself and that usually means trouble. Minx loves her work and loves to run, which she gets from her zeros bloodlines. She has her mums brains and they make an awesome pair when they run together, rarely putting a paw wrong on the trail.
Minx is second in command behind her mum and will back her up to the end of the world, they have an amazing bond and are never apart. Minx can be a very serious and intense dog and does not suffer fools hence she needs a rider with great communication skills and positive attiude or she will make up her own mind where she's going to run!
This blue eyed, silver girl is our poster girl. She still has lots to learn about running. Koda is a little bit crazy and really needs this working outlet, if she didn’t run she would tear the house to pieces. She would make a terrible pet and can’t be trusted off lead. She runs wheel as she has a habit of messing around when running up front. Once she’s worked however she is full of cuddles and kisses and wants lots of affection, unfortunately it doesn’t take long for her to charge her batteries and then she’s off running all over the house again. Kods is a low ranking pack member, wanting nothing more than to be taken care of and looked after...she is a little bit dopey!!!
Nanuk means polar bear in Inuit, which suits her down to the ground as she’s all white in colour. Little Nuks is small but she hasn’t let her size hold her back she is one of our best runners. This comes from her Seppala bloodlines and whilst a small dog in the pack her heart and drive to run is massive.
Nuks is a superstar runner always head down and tight tug. Even Willow knows there’s something special in this girl and will happily run wheel when Nuks is at the helm. Her amazing ability to run gives her a naturally high ranking position in the pack and Nuks always leads the team from the front.
Tamzin is a rehome dog. She came from a loving home, who just couldn’t work her and wanted her to have the best life possible. She’s a powerful runner, with a lean physique who will give you all she’s got in the tank. She is a very laid back girl, happy either running or chilling and doesn’t mind being at the bottom of the pecking order. Tamz wants the simple life and rarely gets involved in any fuss at home and is always first on the sofa. She is a very popular dog with children where her soft, easy going nature and mesmerizing eyes rarely fails to win people over.
Our rescue girl. It’s been a 2 year journey to bring her home to us. Freya is Nanuk’s mum and has been used for backyard breeding. Whilst her quality of life so far has been poor she will stay with us until her end of days.
She came to us in a very bad way with a body score of 1, but she’s now well on the road to recovery and has started work. Freya does get very over excited about everything, guess that’s only to be expected after living in a crate.
She loves running, loves cuddles and is full of energy.
The smallest of the team, but the noisiest. She came with her mum Freya, but her fight for survival has made her one tough little girl.
Levi runs with her half sister Nuks and they race with Bryony in the junior class. They are perfect for her as not too powerful and their lovely natures means they are safe on the trails and will steer clear from any trouble when working. Levi has a strong connection with Bryony as they started their racing journey together doing canicross, where they took a sliver medal in the Canix World Championships. Levi and Bryony's next big adventure is an ultra marathon in the French Alps in the summer.
Star is another rescue dog whose had a pretty bad start in life, she still lacks social skills and has been very challenging. She won't back down from a challenge and in her past she learnt to fight. She is a very reactive dog, but gradually she is learning to trust us and really does want to be loved. She loves fuss, but does get over excited and her best buddy is Levi, who has taught her more than we ever could. Star is an awesome runner, but runs on her own as can cause problems when running as a team. She has come a long way from coming to us, but in time we reckon we can turn this girl around and get her to trust enough to run in a team.
The Brothers Cooper and Buck
These picture postcard boys are still young and are just starting to work with customers. Buck is the bigger and stronger of the brothers and did his first run with Willow recently. He passed this test and she respected his work ethic and allowed him to run with her, so he should develop into being a great little runner.
His smaller brother Cooper however isn't sure if he wants to be a sleddog. He is far happier being picked up and cuddled and this little guy will happily let you snuggle him all day long. Coops may in time want to run, but if not we'll just let him enjoy all the fuss and love and he'll be our chief cuddle giver.
